Parallel, Distributed and Network-based Processing: an Application Perspective

The aim of this special issue is to provide an up-to-date view of different aspects of parallel, distributed, grid and cloud computing, focusing on advances in scientific and engineering applications, and on software tools and environments, architectures, models and algorithms on which the applications are built.

Submissions are encouraged in the following areas:

advanced scientific and engineering applications, multi-disciplinary and multi-component applications, real-time applications, knowledge and data mining
multi-core and many-core parallel computing, cluster computing, grid computing, cloud computing, pervasive computing, grid services, web services
scheduling, mapping, load balancing, performance prediction and analysis, knowledge-based program development
component-based frameworks, scientific libraries, problem solving environments, visualization tools

Papers, formatted according to the Instructions for Contributors on the journal web page, must be sent, via email, to one of the guest editors. The initial submissions should consist of PDF files only. A complete set of files (sources) will be required for the final versions of the accepted papers.

All the papers will receive at least two peer-reviews. The publication of the special issue is scheduled for September 2010
